Jongkind in stamps across the world

Postmark created for the centenary of the arrival of Jongkind in the Dauphiné in August 1873. Jongkind first set foot in the Dauphiné at the railway station of Châbons in the Bourbre valley (north Isère). He arrived with Joséphine Fesser to visit her son Jules, who was chef at the chateau of Pupetières, near Virieu.


These are the first stamps ever to commemorate Jongkind. They were issued on the occasion of the 100 years of impressionnism by the Republic of Chad. (Limited issues of 100 000 each.) The stamps were created at the instigation of Jean-Maurice Rieu, who was the President of the Friends of Jongkind Society at the time...


... The stamp was first issued on 27 December 1976 at the Chadian capital N’Djaména (ex-Fort-Lamy).

Postmark created for the centenary of the arrival of Jongkind in La Côte-Saint-André in August 1878. Jongkind lived in the Villa Beauséjour with the Fesser family. He nevertheless continued to keep his rue de Chevreuse apartment in Paris until he died.

90th anniversary of the death of Jongkind in the Saint-Robert hospital, Saint-Egrève (near Grenoble, Isère). This posmark was created at the instigation of Jean-Maurice Rieu, who was the President of the Friends of Jongkind Society.
It was ordered by the town of Saint-Egrève and designed by Henri Mouet, of the post office drawing office. Henri Mouet was a native of Eyzin-Pinet (Isère).


Postmark created for the Jongkind exhibition at La Côte-Saint-André on the centenary of his death. Jongkind was buried at La Côte-Saint-André...


... The town also created a La Côte-Saint-André postmark for the exhibition.


Stamp issued in 1991 for the 100th anniversary of the death of Jongkind.


Stamp issued for the 110th anniversary of the death of Jongkind. It was René Bergeret, the mayor of La Côte-Saint-André who was responsible for this edition...


... The first day of issue was 27 October 2001 at La Côte-Saint-André.
The same stamp was put up for sale on the same day at Honfleur (Calvados).
